Review: Starved Rock State Park

Starved Rock State Park in Illinois is one of my favorite outdoor places to explore. This state park is located in Oglesby, Illinois in Lasalle County. Starved Rock offers many things to those who want to take the day or weekend to enjoy the outdoors. Your time can be spent walking the beautiful trails and exploring the canyons that the park has to offer. The best part about going to Starved Rock is that all you need to bring is snacks, water, some good walking shoes, and of course yourself. Depending on where you are located, the drive to Starved Rock is an easy route with amazing scenery along the way. Once you arrive at the park, you drive down through a road that has beautiful trees that leads to the parking lot with ample parking. When you get there and start walking up towards the park, there is a welcome center with flyers and maps for the park that will provide you with essential information about the park as well as nearby attractions. As I said, the park itself has many beautiful trails that all have different starting points. But don't worry, all trails lead to one another in a circle; so any choice is the right choice! Don't forget to explore the trails that lead to the beautiful waterfalls, because, on a hot day, this is the perfect place to take a dip and cool off.

Starved Rock is one of my all time favorite places to go during the warm summer months. It is a place where you can enjoy the weather, get some exercise and leave behind the boring day to day schedule. If you travel to Starved Rock State Park, let me know what you thought of the place.
